John Henry Newman On Wednesday afternoons, we (Y5F) have been going to John Henry Newman secondary school. We have been learning how to make African masks. The first week, everyone was excited and the school bus noise was filled with noise. We were all looking forward to it! Nobody seemed to mind that the bus was a mess. When we eventually arrived, a buzz of energy spread through the class. Inside there were many different types of artwork. They were amazing!
John Henry Newman On Wednesday afternoons, we go to JHN secondary school. In these weeks we have been doing art with an art teacher from the school. He is teaching us about African masks. We have been making African masks and designing them. Last week we learnt how to do scrafito which is Italian. Sadly for Miss Ford, she had a school council meeting so she couldn’t come. But at least she can see the art next week. When we go on the mini bus we say “Can we go to Big Johns?” But we never go there. I'm having lots of fun!
John Henry Newman On Wednesday afternoon we have been visiting JHN secondary school When we arrived we began by walking through the huge school. As we walked up the stairs children from the secondary school greeted us with warm and welcoming waves and smiles. As we went into the art room Mr Morgan began by telling us what we would be doing whilst we were at the school. We began by drawing a sketch for the outline of our masks. When we had finished doing our outline and detail (eyes nose and mouth) Mr Morgan put them in the kiln. Next week we will paint them. :)
JOHN HENRY NEWMAN Wednesday the 13th June. Me and my class went on a trip to John Henry Newman. When we arrived there we walked all the way up the stairs and into the art classroom also sat down to listen to the art teacher. After that we all had a gigantic piece of clay in a shape of a big oval to make African masks .Firstly we had to make 3 steps of the face the eyes, nose and mouth then we could make patterns it was so fun! Then when me and my class go again I guarantee it will be great!
John Henry Newman Every Wednesday afternoon we usually go to JHN secondary school, we are going for five weeks we have only been twice so two weeks, we learn art there. We have made a mask there already they are made out of clay they are based on African masks we have not painted them yet. The second week we had a sheet with African mask outlines what we had to do was draw eyes and the details and colour it in with crayons and leave no white spaces, soon after we have done that we would have to get a pencil and mark little shapes in the colour it’s amazing what we have learnt. We but just before you scratch it you have to ink the whole page then you could get a hair dryer and dry it so it’s ready to scratch it’s called scrifitti.
John henry newman Every Wednesday our class ( y5f) go to John Henry . newman, the first week we made and shaped African mask . we looked at how to shape and make the mask from scratch. We started with a flat piece of clay. We first made the face then we added eyes, nose, mouth, eye brows. Then we carved some patterns in to it.
